yep, about 3 years ago it got a new water pump when I replaced the head, at that time it got a heater core, thermostat & new thermostat housing as well as a timing belt and a set of fuel injectors from a 302. (ok, technically HALF a set. lol) the radiator was new when I got it and I run it with half the radiator blocked off in the winter with no fan on the fan clutch, foam pipe insulation “noodles “ over the heater hoses. Ive considered mounting a ball valve in the middle of the upper radiator hose, have it 1/2 shut off in winter. Id want a mechanical temperature guage on it first though. (then I might try & rig a old choke cable to it so I could control the restriction from the cab) The oddest thing is my ‘88 2wd supercab with a 2.3 and a great heater always airlocked when I did any cooling system work, this engine has never had that problem.Have you ever replaced the water pump?
My '92 f150 always had Luke warm at best coming from the heater. I rebuild the cooling system, replaced everything, radiator, hoses, water pump, ect, except the heater core. The heat was blasting that next winter, I think thr water pump was worn and didn't have much flow.
