I went to that… brace for the main caps…

Looking at that pic again, I should note the rear leaf springs were changed and the rear sway bar and shocks in place after that pic and before driving.
I assume this one did clear the tone ring?
Also, does it have a drain plug? That’s the main reason I wanted the finned one to begin with but again, didn’t clear.

Just be warned- I bought one of those for my ranger about a year ago, and it doesn’t fit. At least not if you have ABS. It doesn’t clear the tone ring.
what? i have abs.

god dang, that sucks.

Yea…. It’s stinky. I think they are more intended for the older mustangs that don’t use a tone ring in the diff

Fill and drain plugs, thick aluminum, girdle for the main caps and cleared the tone ring just fine, at least on an Explorer 8.8”. Believe I got it from Bronco Graveyard if memory serves me right. Could have come from Summit Racing but pretty sure it was BG.

They had the yukon cover on sale the other day. I got mine from Amazon in an open box return for cheap. Nodular iron with fill and drain plugs. Bolt on... no mods necessary.

If it helps, this is the exact one I bought that didn’t fit. I’d just check to make sure they are the same, it’s possible that one is clearanced more.

I’m just annoyed because the eBay listing said it fit my exact truck.

it helps, but not in a positive way. thats the one i got too

That looks like a direct knock off of a ford racing cover that I seen on summit. Says on that description it’s not compatible with certain axels.
Just missing the ford logo in the blank spot and about $100 on the price tag.

Hope it fits because the cool used actual ones around here must have sold as they are no longer online

Something like that under mine would be lipstick on a pig... I did have a "chrome" one for a few years until the rust ate that one. I rebuilt (spray paint) the OE one and it doesn't leak.

Finally drove mine to work today. Haven't driven it to work in a couple weeks after the water pump replacement. Felt good to drive it and the AC was ice cold since we hit almost 95 today. Guess it's back to being the primary work vehicle.

I bought a couple of jy parts - the ones off the mid-2000s irs Explorers. All you have to do is grind off the suspension ears on the sides and they fit perfectly. And they were like $5 each. I just haven't put one on yet... its nowhere near the top of my list yet.

Naaa, we all have different trucks and we’re all different folks, different spirits.

You just have to find the panel patterns and accents you like and use the right colors of Rustoleum, grab a couple fine brush’s from Hobby lobby for $.50 or a dollar, and knock it out. Doesn’t have to be picture perfect, just has to be perfect for you, who you are.

Very true, Duct tape comes in a variety of colors. That's how I roll. 😉
