I've had a rear axle whine on my 04 that I have had taken in to get looked at. It doesn't change with RPM's, only speed. I had the pinion seal replaced about three months ago due to it leaking. Anywho, I took it in for the noise just because it's under warranty, and thought maybe the pinion bearing was the culprit. The truck only has 63k miles. I've been fighting the warranty company, and they have been saying that the inspector concluded no damage or abnormal wear to anything. I have done a little bit of research and thought possibly that the dealership I took it to to get the seal replaced didn't torque the bearing properly, causing a little bit of a whine. Any other thoughts?
Thanks.
