My credo
Buy it, build it, and drive it like you stole it
I will be making a trip to Windrock June 12th. If anyone wants to join in just hit me up. I will be running some easier trails with the Ranger and some tougher ones in the SxS. My Nissan buddy will have his truck there. Since we are not professional off roaders just wanting to get out and run the easy stuff in truck. All welcome to come along. Give us rookies some advice

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.

I’ll be rattle snake hunting that weekend. Seriously, it is a thing and is fun as long as you have the right gear. Snake boots or shin guards, a grabber that is 42” or longer, and a snake hook.

The permit is a bit spendy though. Still a good time.

That is a television spectator sport for me. No participation here.

Snakes don’t bother me. They deserve proper respect and 99% of the time it’s catch and release. they have to be something like 48” long and only a male can be harvested. We have tubes for that. You slip them in the tube for inspection and sexing. That way you don’t risk getting bit and the snake isn’t harmed.

Beautiful creatures and they are more interested in getting away from you than attacking you.

I have noticed that too.

Then again I am usually driving the lawn mower when I see a snake...

When I see snakes while mowing, it’s usually gardener snakes and a clunk sound from the striking in fear. I feel bad but I don’t usually see them in time to keep from running over them.

Garters and ring necks here too.

Bull snakes are around but I rarely see them.

Supposedly, we have Eastern Timber Rattler, Eastern Massauga, and Copper Heads. I’ve never seen any around here. I have to drive East to find the rattlers. Just Gardener Snakes and the occasional Black Racer. Both of those are non-venomous and eat insects and vermin. So, beneficial and left alone. If I found one of the three venomous ones in my yard, they would get their heads lopped off with a shovel. It’s one thing to go to them and other if they come to me.
