Need to replace a windshield in one of my early Rangers, and do not want one from a junkyard.
Not wanting to pay full retail, Tried Rock, but they have none.

LMC Truck has them, but the truck freight charge is almost them same as the glass. ($140 for glass plus $125 freight?????), that's $265 for a windshield, not installed. FWIW, I'd bite the bullet and have a local glass co do it and have a decent warranty.

Yes, shipping windshields makes them expensive
Call local glass companies that DO NOT install windshields, they can get the glass from local wholesalers, mark it up a few bucks so you get it for less, might even drop it off for you if you don't have a way to carry it safely.

Tempered glass shatters instantly if you put ANY pressure on the edge

Just as a heads up, after glass is out check the trough around it, lower corners rust out and leak water into cab, worth while cleaning, repairing and painting

Unless you have a buddy that works at a place that sells windshields you're going to be paying full retail. Luckily Ranger windshields aren't too expensive, a little over $100 typically. Call your local glass company, or see if there is an LKQ/Keystone local to you.

windshield replacement

All responses to my question seem correct.
Went to safelite, and they will come to my place, and replace the windshield for $217. Would cost at least that much doing it myself.
Thanks for the commentary.
