My a4ld went out on me. I know its not recommended, but I'm in a pinch.

I've got a whole b2 w a 2.9/m5od. My dd b2 has a 4.0. I don't have the money for a 4.0 flywheel and clutch.

How long will my 2.9 clutch and flywheel hold up behind the 4.0.
I'm not doing any heavy wheeling or driving with it. Just need to get by a couple months.
Unless someone has a 4.0 flywheel and clutch they wanna give me:icon_rofl:

it depends on what kind of clutch u have in the truck, a stock replacment wont last long behind the 4.0, but a centerforce or good zoom clutch stage 2 or higher will hold

Well, the M5OD will certainly hold up. If you use the 4.0 auto starter it's workable.

Give it a shot. If you are polite to it, it may last forever.

Gently releasing the clutch then punching the throttle will produce smoke...
from the bellhousing.

the 4.0 can effortlessly incinerate a 2.9 clutch.

Hell, a well running 2.9 can do the same thing.

If you are REALLY careful and drive like the transmission input shaft was made of glass you might be able to drive around for a few weeks or months, but you'd have to be more
careful than I've ever managed.

Remember that I am one of the original pioneers of installing a 4.0 clutch behind a 2.9....

I argue that, we installed a fm146 with a 2.9 clutch zoom racin stage 3 we have TRIED to get the clutch to even slip, but it grips right up every time, we also notcied the lighter 2.9 flywheel allows the 4.0 to rev extremely quickly (freshly rebuilt 4.0 new heads and all)

The transmission has been in the truck for about 3k hard miles so far and its just smiling

You are not describing a STOCK clutch.

a Centerforce would probably hold up, but he's got a STOCK POS clutch.

I was simply saying, and u aswell assuming he has a stock clutch, that there are benefits to running the 2.9 clutch even though its smaller

:annoyed:, Yeah, burning clutch smell. I can still remember that smell from years past. Can never forget that smell.

It is a stock clutch that is pretty fresh, I'm going to try it, just cause I need my dd back.

Not saying I wanna run like this forever, but just long enough to straighten some things out.

I've gotta change peddles and everything. I'm expecting this to take a few weeks just to get done.
