'89 2.9 won't start. vacuum?

Also, i was under the impression that '89s just had one fuel pump (in the tank). mine seems to have an external fuel pump also...

with KOEO MAP showed 154 Hz.
at rough idle 115 Hz
would go below 100 when i gave it throttle.

did a hand vac test on the MAP sensor. at 0 it shows 155 Hz. 8 -> 135Hz. 11 -> 125Hz. and where I idle (around 115Hz) the vac showed about 14 InHg best i could tell.

Looks good to me. And that's all that matters in this thread....

tried to check the timing but couldn't locate the spout connector right away. With it still connected it seemed the timing was around 38 at idle. i also hooked up a vac gauge at the AC/D tap and it showed about 10 at idle. seemed to increase with more gas. truck ran alot better when the vac line was disconnected and it was just sucking air.

Not sure what the AC/D tap is?

Vacuum should drop when throttle plate opens, engine vacuum is highest at idle then gets less and less as RPM goes up..
RPM should increase with small vacuum leak, i.e. sucking air, that is normal, that's how the IAC controls idle RPM(IAC = controlled vacuum leak), but it should stumble a bit when throttle is opened because of the unmetered air coming in from the open line.

Find that Spout and unhook it for the timing test
You want 10-12 BTDC

THANK YOU RonD for your help. I'm really trying to get this truck running before hunting season starts...

"Air Cleaner Diverter" I really don't even know what it does.

Any idea how to locate the SPOUT on this truck? man'f in 12/88 so I assume it's a '89. But i'll check the VIN to verify.

I'm starting to think I have a spark issue of some kind. but it does run plenty rich for some reason. I may even have a miss. Only thing good right now is the compression.
