I just replaced the upper control arm, tie rod ends, shocks, rotors, brakes, and wheel bearing assembly just to mention a few things. And the axles. So I just ordered the two orange retainer rings that are supposed to hold the axles in. Is this the only thing that holds them tight against the back side of the steering knuckle? I am doing the drivers side in the morning and I can post some pics if need be, but I noticed two small threaded holes on the back side of the knuckle that look like the are supposed to have some sort of retainer bolted to them to help hold the axle in place, but I can't seem to find it mentioned anywhere, including my Chilton manual (waste of money). Mine doesn't have anything there, but I did look at the drivers side before I came in for the night and I seen what looked to be part of a piece in it that is broken off. I just want to make sure I get it right. I have a good amount tied up in brand new parts and I don't want to cause damage down the road later. Thanks for any help on this or anything else you may think I need to know about this area of the truck. I just bought it and it had a bad roar in the front end, it started out only when I hit a small bump on the highway it would roar, and vibrate so I decided to change it all out while I had it apart.
thanks again for any help, and like I mentioned I can post pics if need be.
