My son brought over his newly bought 98 ext cab and I can't seem to figure out how to make the rear facing cargo lights come on, I removed the bulbs
and checked them they do work, The center brake light works.
His dome light is different than my 06'
it Has a switch on it to turn it on & off,
I did not see a door striker switch to activate it, and the dimmer switch does not activate anything other than panel lights, It has No detent at the top like my 06 to turn the Dome light on.

Any ideas?
thanks

The fun begins where the pavement ends
On my 98 turning the dimmer all the way to the top turns them on and also I think opening the door with the lights on.

My buddy's 98 Ranger is the sam e way. Turning the dimmer switch all the way up does nothing. I think some trucks simply are not wired for cargo lights, even though they have the bulbe for them. Check the wiring at the light. If you have only 2 wires, then it's not wired for cargo lights. If it has 3 wires, then it is wired for cargo lights.
