Good read here on using vacuum gauge to diagnose engine issues: http://www.gregsengine.com/using-a-vacuum-gauge.html

12" is very low, expected is 17"-21" at sea level, expect 1" drop per 2,000ft altitude, so unless you are at 10,000ft it is low :)
US Route 34 does get to 12,000ft above sea level, so wouldn't be a good place to test vacuum, results would be skewed.

Fixed 2 vacuum leaks, now at 16# of vacuum and I'm at almost 6000 feet so that's about right, from his guide to vacuum diagnosis everything is fine. But my old 2.3 ranger could easily do 110 and this one struggles to go 75.. Someone hellllp

Changed the map, iac, and the tps, still gutless, how hard is it to swap a 4.0 into this truck? Should I just put a 302 and go through all that trouble?

At 6,000 ft above sea level you really need a turbo charged engine.
I don't think they can even sell a non-turboed car or truck in Denver, lol.

4.0l would be the simpler swap since 2.9l and 4.0l share the same basic block
But it is only a 20HP gain, the 40ft/lb of torque gain is noticeable but at 6,000ft..........

The 302 swap would be my choice, 65HP gain and 100ft/lb in torque gained

my bronco is n/a 6.4l haha 450 to the crank and 210 to the wheels 38" tires

I could supercharge the 4.0 fairly easily i think, the 302 is quite a painfull swap if I remember correctly.

I would notice the 4.0 power because my 2.9 has much less power then my 34 horse vw bug
