Right after I posted the one about the trucker out of fuel I went to work and was handed one better.
Truck towed in from San Antonio. Engine died and will not restart. The driver just had an alternator put on, so I go out to check the obvious: dead batts, fuses, etc. Nope, out of fuel. The bills on those big tow trucks start at $200 and go up from there. San Antonio to Austin is a pretty good ways. So, that bill, plus our two hours of labor, plus 30 gallons of five dollar diesel.
Just to be sure, I snuck a coathanger into tank and lifted the sending unit, gauge works just fine.
