Assembling my 2.9 motor. Freeze plug kit contained a small threaded plug. it's bigger than the coolant drain plugs. I have no clue where it goes. It fits in the location where the oil pressure sender goes, is there more than one oil galley port on a 2.9 block.

Could you maybe snap a picture of it and post it here? I'll look at my shop manual, but I think there is only one oil gallery. The only other place that I can think of is the low oil level sensor on the side of the oil pan :dunno:...but I think that is a bigger plug than the oil pressure sender assuming you already put a plug in there.

What rebuild kit did you use? None of the ones that I can find for the 2.9 in that year range have those plugs.

It;s been quite a while since I've rebuilt a motor, but those look like oil galley plugs. Some areas I've seen them is at the back of a block behind where the clutch usually attaches, and on the back of some heads. If you didn't remove them before hot tanking, then there may not be a hole for your new plugs. The motors I've played with are old style 351C and 429/460 so this may not apply in your case.

Bought Kit off E-Bay. Heads are still at machine shop, did zero disassembly on them before I dropped them off. I'll double check them when they come back. Looking like the manufacture tosses a few in to cover every application.
