o2 Sensor
Back in 1989 I installed Headers on my 86' w/ a 2.9 . we cut the wires thinking they didnt mean much. we were used to carburated stuff. every time i started it I held is at a 1,400 rpm until it cleared out the built up carbon, it ran better, but still seemed a little "off". after taking it to a diesel mechanic friend of ours, he was just schooled on the "New technology" after he put the new sensor and wires in it ran awesome !!! and even sounded better, and yes made a big difference on MPG. Currently on my 3rd 2.9 truck but my 4th ranger i've owned. my . the idea here is I run the 2.9 as long as I can, while rebuilding a 302fi , i plan to get. whats funny is this truck I just got ,has the same stuff I put on my 86' before it got wrecked.
