I have a ridiculous sounding question. Just did my clutch in my '88 Ranger with a clutch kit for '93-'94 Rangers, this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/400889392142?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
The clutch worked fine before except for it slipping, the engagement was great, right at the middle of the pedal travel. After putting the clutch in I had almost no pedal. Bled it,and it goes into gear at a standstill ok, but it's difficult to shift quickly under acceleration, especially third and fourth, I almost have to force it into gear, and they grind. I have bled and bled and bled, taken the master cylinder off and tipped it to get any air pockets out, gravity bled the slave, etc. Nothing has changed. The pedal engages about a half inch to an inch off the floor and feels soft to me. Now I'm concerned that perhaps this clutch kit is wrong and they changed parts between '88 and '93. I previously understood that the 4 cylinder clutches were pretty much interchangeable. Thanks for any help, I'm pretty frustrated right now.
