It's just that every time I mention a 2wd street truck I get a lot of backlash about NO market and NO profit for ford to do that. If Ford was to produce a street racing, tuned up version, put it out a week from now, they would sell out.

... or maybe they would just set on the lots while people drove by to see the relics of a time long past.

I've got a 2wd 4R70W 5.0 trans under the porch behind my house if he wants to pick it up. I'd be happy to make a very reasonable deal just to get it off my list of things to deal with.
Oh I hear that. I hate having power train components sitting around. They are big, they are heavy, they take up lots of space and are hard to move.

I gave away my last 2wd trans, and delivered it, just to get it out of the way.

I think you may be mistaking facts for backlash. I get that these are things you want, and you are interested in, and so you think that other people probably are too, and there probably are others out there. And in your area your assertions about how fast a Lighting-esque package in a Ranger format would sell may be correct. But Ford is an international company, and they look at markets globally. They don't care if it will sell well in Florida. If they think it will be a bomb in the rest of the US it isn't going to happen.

Do they not do things I would like them to do? Sure. The 4-door V8 Dakotas sold well, and I think they should have given the Ranger that treatment, but they didn't. I also think that right next to the cat is a shitty place for a transmission dipstick that is 1.75 inches long. But they actually did do that.

As for aftermarket support, same deal. Those companies won't make parts they don't think there is enough of a market for. If their market research tells them they won't recoup their R&D costs, they aren't going to make it. If people like you start calling or emailing and asking for certain things you want to see you might just get them. But Rangers have long been a niche market, only truly popular with us crazy few who understand that bigger isn't always better.

with that out there i would be shocked if they dont have a street version or at least an easy to adapt street version of the new ranger. lowered ext cab 2wd with a tweaked eco whiz and 10 speed would have to bring some fun.

i think you will be happy with the performance of the new rigs...though i have a feeling the colorado will be on top for towing and power for the time being, hard to tell. the focus engine has some potential. and they are wringing it out in development.

its the reason i like the eco boost engines. you can range the usable power much much wider then a diy turbo duratech.

wont be long.

Yeah, Ford didn't make what I wanted so I made it myself. You should do it too, it is a lot of fun. You want unique you can't beat 1 of 1 unique. And you can say you built it yourself.

2wd is easy street, you are poking in the driveshaft at the same step I am wrestling a 130# t-case into my truck.

Won't be a diesel in a Ranger Raptor. Would sure negate the performance aspect.

wasnt talking to the raptor, just in general.

eventually if they last, more then 1 engine.

drop a tuned duramax in a raptor.....you would have a raptor that was cheaper to drive and had a much deeper range..

Don't say that. There's no profit margin or market for that kind of talk around here
