it has 373 gears and 225.70.15 tires. its all stock with 64,000 miles...I've never changed the diff fluid out before. What is the service interval for doing this? and what fluid(brand, weight) do you guys reccomend? When you change the fluid out do have to take the cover off and replace the gasket or is there a drain plug?

Also, I've never done anything to wheen bearings. Do you guys reccomend changing them out or just repacking them? or what? thank you....

GL-5 hypoid gear oil. Probably 80W-90 or somesuch (see your owner's manual or phone a dealer service department).

REPACK bearings unless there is something wrong with them.

Wouldn't a 2000 2wd have sealed bearings or bearings/hubs? Just wondering, since I'm not sure what year they went to the sealed bearing units.

98+ 2WDs have serviceable bearings. Only the 4x4s have hub bearing assemblies that must be replaced as a whole.
