01-03 Edge/4x4 Honeycomb insert replacement?

Does anyone know if the Honeycomb inserts for the 01-03 Edge/4x4 grille is available separate?

Doing the facelift on my '99 Ranger. I found a header panel for a reasonable price locally last week. Well a guy I work with has the grill shell new in box for the 01-03 Edge/4x4 grill, but it is missing the honey comb section. According to him he purchased a complete assembly for his truck , shell with insert and clips. When it arrived it was just the shell, no honeycomb insert or clips. When talking to the seller about fixing the issue it he decided to go with 2wd instead, they sent him another grill and didn't ask for this one to be returned.

On the face of it, seems like I can get the grill for cheap and have a good deal. However if I can't get the mesh insert separate, then the deal is kind of lost.

The other possibility is that I was already considering was a custom insert, probably the bar type "billet" grille insert. I don't how much, if any, of the insert is required to install those custom grilles. Any one here got experience with that?

Hmm, good question. At first I was like, I got this, I just bought one for mine until I saw that you need the center grill section only, lol. I bought the whole thing for $60 and didn’t look for just the center. Theoretically you should be able to find something

Well, I tried, apparently the price went up, it’s now $80 on Amazon where I got it… not sure that’s so good, but might take some looking around.
