Hi guys, 2009 ford ranger 2wd sport just recently my rangers steering wheel had started to very slowly shake when i’d turn when driving and slowly got more violent to the point where it wouldn’t stop shaking unless I slowed down. I’ve been inspecting the truck and found that it the front wheels and steering wheel still shakes even when stationary with truck on and even when I had all 4 wheels in the air it still shook. I’ve inspected tie rods wheel bearings control arms all seem to be ok. Previous owner had replaced steering rack but that was a year ago now. I read that a lot of times these trucks can get air in the steering system so I tried bleeding for about 5 min and the fluid level never went down and the wheel still shakes pretty bad even when stationary. Really lost on what this issue can be and was hoping someone here has experienced this or knows what It could be. Thanks.

Lead follow or get out of my way
It only seems logical that if it shakes while stationary and wheels off the ground... it must be something in the power assist or the rack.

I've never ran across this before so I don't have any help to offer.

If you're getting a noticeable shaking/movement in the wheel while stopped there's most definitely something broken/wrong in your power steering rack causing uneven pressure spikes as pressure is being sent by the power steering pump. Or there's something fucky happening anywhere down the line.

check for fluid leaks, or disconnected hoses/vacuum lines

Your power steering pump could be fine, or it could be the problem. I personally have never heard of a powersteering pump failing and as a result causing the rack to wobble back and forth, but frankly this is a weird issue.

If the owner replaced the rack recently, maybe ask if he replaced the pump too, or if he got a used/junkyard rack.
