What a fawktastic day, started my traction bar......ran out of wire.

Started to wire in the taurus fan controller.....didn't finish it yet.

Attempted to start the eb only to find the ign. switch wasn't wired right so I didn't have a fuel. Figured that out, but it still won't start so no spark. However I didn't mess much with that due to having a torn inj o-ring so I was dumping fuel on the intake.

Got the exhaust y onto my manifold pipes, I have no idea how I am gonna fit a muffler and a pipe with the traction bar in the way.

And I called it a day :(.

Eb runs now, ign switch had some wires in the wrong spot. I had ign in the run position but when in crank it turned the ign off lol.

Also the trans cooler I picked up for a power steering cooler is a leaker :(.

Also got started on the traction bar.

I have an apt. weds to get the exhaust bent up for it.

First time out of the garage.

So my front driveshaft rubs pretty decent on the ujoint straps at the tcase :(. The rear just barely touches the straps at full hang. I had it to a shop today and on a hoist to get exhaust bent for it and a muffler installed. With the rear hanging free it barely touches/binds.

Still waiting on my limit straps I ordered a week ago from ruff stuff.

Still lots to do, but def getting closer.

So my radiator leaks, so gonna have to get another one of those tomorrow, the power steering cooler (explorer trans cooler) leaks so that needs to be replaced. I need to figure out my bind issue at the front driveshaft, gonna bring the shaft to work tomorrow and play with the grinder and carbide and see what I can remove. Front and rear tow points. I need to weld in an o2 bung and reinstall that in the new exhaust. Hood installed. Paint and fit the hard top and hope it clears the cage. Add a bar or two to the cage so I can tie my belts to it. Wire in all the lights. Find and install a roller fairlead for the winch. Finish the dash wiring and switches.

Then I think I'll be ready to test and tune

Is there any way to do a modification to the joints that they use in front wheel drive cars and use them for a drive shaft, or is those joints not strong enough to use in that way, I figured if GM could use them in the Cadillac with a V8 front wheel drive, why not in a drive shaft on a 4X4 ?!?!

Thats a different style joint altogether. The original rear B2 driveshafts are made the same way as front CV shafts for FWD cars...

Is there a way that a set of them could be fixed to use for the front drive shaft so they wouldn't bind on him ????

I'm just really wondering, because of how tight you can turn the front wheels of a front wheel drive car and they don't bind, why couldn't it be used in a drive shaft.

While they are strong enough, the problem is that they don't have enough slip to them. When they get to the end, they pop out and your shaft is now in two pieces...

Robert

theres many types of setups incorporating super cv jointed drive shafts.

one i seen/read about was 2500 dollars for one shaft on a dakkar race truck. 930 type joints with a loaded slip. and that was 8 or so years ago..

Yeah that's the problem with having a 88 f-series steering column with the 88 turn signal and ign switch, having a 98 explorer instrument cluster, and using the wire harness from a 96 f-series. I had a few wires in a few different spots.
