My girlfriend's son was driving the 1985 Bronco II 4x4 that I fixed up for him today and started having the following problems:
1) making a clicking sound
2) stalling
Went over and checked it out. It was hard to start and backfired at the carb.
Got it running, started to drive it, and could hear the clicking and feel it in the shifter. Backed up and couldn't get it out of reverse. The shifter moves but doesn’t engage anything.
I'm guessing the transmission is toast but would love to know what this problem could be.
Ideas?
