Since you guys always have great info I decided to post here and ask. My wife has a 2000 mazda 626 that I cannot stand to even look at. It is a pos that should have been destroyed at the end of the assy line. But I love her so I will fix it for her. She likes it but I think I have talked her into an Ex. I am fairly sure that the neutral safety switch is bad and I wanna Change it to either fix it or rule it out. Question is, does anyone know where it is located?

it should be on the top of the transmission located under the shift linkage.. thats just a general spot where 90% of them are.

will it crank if you play with the shifter back and forth?

you might want to just try to adjust it before replacing it.

you just have to loosen the bolts and turn it until the engine will only crank if park and neutral.. if it still doesn't work then its obviously bad

Hid my hatred for the POS and looked at it.:annoyed: When it doesnt start there is a loud click at I believe the starter so Its probably a bad connection or solenoid. I may have access to a lift tomorrow. A*@ dragger is only 4" off the ground.

Well the lift fell thru so i laid in the driveway for 7 hours, yes thats right 7 hours in 110 weather changing the starter. I have changed many in my life and generally schedule an hour to do it. I have never fought something like this. Every single thing fought me tooth and nail but I won:icon_hornsup:. Now starting like its supposed to and time for :icon_cheers:
