I replaced the rear brakes about a year ago with metallic shoes as they were the only thing I could get at the time.
Ever since then after the truck sits over night when I take off the next day they grab like I had just gone through a river.
They get better after a few stops and work fine otherwise but it is annoying as h@LL. Is it common for these type of shoes?
I am considering replacing them with non=metallic shoes, anyone have this same experience?

My credo
It was like that when I found it.
I had a heck of a time finding shoes that were any good for quite a few years. I tried about 4 different brands with similar uneven and intermittent sticky braking. I finally put a set of heavy duty riveted centrics on and they've been great since. I also had problems finding drums that weren't out of round right out of the box. I think I'm running one centric premium and one Wagner heavy duty. Seems to be working and I drive my 98 about 200 to 250 miles a week in quite a bit of traffic.

One of the main reasons I put disc brakes on the rear of my Ranger trucks...

That's been on my list for years but too many other projects. Some day...
