Got er in finally. Drove great. Shifted great… but blinking OD LIGHT.. the trans had been sitting in a shop for some time now, with only maybe a qt of fluid in it. Got a code IMG_1098.jpeg. I cleared it this afternoon. Gonna drive it a little more and check the codes again.. shifted like a newly built one. I felt no slip or hard shift.

You can use a 2003 5R55E in a 1995-2000 4.0l Ranger but not the other way around

If the TCC solenoid was bad, or one of its wires, you would get one of these codes
P0740 Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Malfunction
P0743 Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Electrical
P0744 Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Intermittent

P0741 Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Performance or Stuck Off
This code means the torque converter is not locking up when computer activates the TCC solenoid
So the TCC valve or torque converter has the problem

Computer has engine RPMs
Computer has transmission input shaft RPMs(TSS sensor)
When computer locks the torque converter these two RPMs should match until its unlocked by computer

Won't hurt to drive with this code, just lower MPG, same as automatics had pre-1985 when TCC was added
Torque Converter should still lock on its own above say 2,800RPM, stall speed

Doesn’t seem to be above factory stall rpm to me . So far it has performed as a good transmission should. Drove it today without it flashing the light.
BUT have definitely learned to listen intently when you comment on anything. And I appreciate you always having the time and patience to help everyone.

That's good, no Flashing OD light means TCC valve is working and Torque Converter is locking when computer activates TCC solenoid
