I've had my 05 B4000 with a 3 and 1/2" body lift and LT265/75/16 BFG KO2s for two years now. Rides like a buckboard. I'm replacing the shocks as the fronts are starting to bottom out at times and the rears are just about rusted out.. With the body lift, do I use stock shocks or is there an oversize option that would help the ride?

My credo
Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.
Stock sized shocks. I'd go for bilstiens.

drives a stick shift ranger
if you look on marketplace, there is a dude in victoria texas selling brand new bilsteins for a ranger for, i think, a hundred bucks for the rears. thats probably a good deal for two in package yellows.

i haven't priced them from bilstein or anywhere but that sounds like a good price after buying bilsteins for my other truck.

just message him and see if he will ship

I appreciate your looking around for me,however, I live in New Brunswick, Canada and shipping them here would cost more than the price of the shocks. Thanks. I can get them here but our prices are a bit higher than yours due to exchange. But I don't have to pay shipping.

@Ragnar
Not knocking Billstein, I recommend James Duff LLC 70/30 shocks 2 per corner, especially in the front. Not only will you experience arguably the best possible ride, they will virtually eliminate body roll or rather aggravated body roll...a chief negative byproduct of a body lift.

Though these shocks offer a tremendous improvement as single shocks, what they are able to achieve in pairs is simply remarkable!! I have never had the slightest regret, I been running dual front on both rigs, the Ranger since 1995; the Bronco further benefits from duals on all 4 corners, due to the increased body weight.

Hmmm. Their website seems to only produce a package for the 83-97 Rangers. Doesn't help me as mine is a 2005.

1, call them on the phone, they have outstanding customer. I would be 100% shocked if they didn't have a solution for you, like a product in the works or entertain development of a product for your truck's design specific (if not already in existence).

Good luck my friend, I hope that they are able set you up, at a minimum with a full set of 70/30's but even better would be duals up front.

PS:
Anyone's dual shock hoop (for the front) designed for your truck will work with their shock, they will instruct you on exactly how they need you to measure them.

I take that means it uses McPhearson style struts?

No...

SLA - Short Long Arm. IFS with torsion bars and half shafts with CV joints on each end.

I know Rancho makes an extended set for the rangers, adds about 3" of travel IIRC. Let me see if I can find a link.

The shock may have more travel... but it adds zero travel to the suspension. The suspension is contained within hard stops. No more travel unless you alter the hard stops.

Ohh never mind. I just read lift, not body lift.

Yea, ignore what I said and go with the bilsteins, they seem to be the pick around here.
