Ok guys. Ive got a 302 out of a 94 ford f150. Goin into my 85 ford ranger 4x4.
Im going to put a m5od-r2 transmission behind it.do i need a flywheel or ring gear? One guy said one. Another guy from explorer forum said use the flywheel.
And where can i buy a new block plate?i didnt get the platewhen i got tranny.
Im going frm efi to carbureated. Easier to work on. I have exhaust manifolds from a 77 ford truck. New intake. 11 in clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing and starter for 96 ford f150.id already bout a new pressure plate but i dnt know if i can use it now. Any info would help thanks

Block plate would probably be a wrecking yard item, or craigslist.
With a manual trans the plate has no inspection point at the bottom.
The automatic ,will have a window at the bottom for torque converter access.
You can use either one in your application.
I have found that the starter "nose" is different between the manual and automatic over the years band applications , so watch for that .

Yea my 302 currently had an auto trans.im going with the md-r2 and running a starter frm a 96 manual and the 11 in clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing to match. Being 96.i didnt knw if my stock block plate would work going frm an auto trans to the 5 speed
