I've recently acquired a 1995 4.0 (pushrod) 4x4, and I've noticed it started burning something, smells like oil, changed the PCV valve, still smells excessively, while driving, I can not smell it. I can smell it while at a stop, through vents and outside the vehicle. Smells like it's coming from the driver side engine bay. Prior to this smell I've replaced the Camshaft Synchronizer. I understand this part messes with timing, and is responsible for the oil pump functioning, so I made sure it was installed properly. For some reason the oil pressure on the gauge cluster reads high on start up, and takes a while (5 minutes or less) to read normal. I do have an engine knock. Cooling is not an issue, as I replaced the entire cooling system less then 6 months ago. Can anyone tell me what, or where to start to fix this burning oil issue?
