my ranger is a 91 with 3.73 gears and has limited slip. the rear end i would say is fryed because it locks up when i turn like a spool but when i flex the rear end and have both tires on ground it pops and bounces. i have not pulled the diff cover off yet (waste of time) but can anyone tell me why its doing this?

the reason its a waste is i plan on putting a 8.8 4.56 spooled in the truck

That's exactly what my D35 did right before it exploded later that day.

Cause of death: spider gears
Fix: non-ranger axles

Yeah, probably spider gears, but if you're really that curious about it, the only way you can know for sure is to pull the cover off it and look.
