89 dash in a 85 BII

So I got all the 89+ dash stuff today removal was a breeze. Now on to the wiring. So where do I start? I have the hole harness out of the 89 cut right at the plug in the firewall. Now do I splice it in at the firewall? Or do I use all the wires from my 85 and splice them in to the dash where they go? I'm hoping it can be done right at the firewall. Anyone have any info on this at all. I did lookk in the tech libary but didnt find out much. Thanks hende.

I've never done this but have thought about it. My plan would be to re-pin one side or the other of the firewall plug. Cutting at the firewall plug makes this hard if not impossible. I guess next best is to solder the harness wires to the wires on whichever plug you have. RangerSVT has a thread where he shows a good system of soldering wires together, maybe PM him if you can't find the thread.
Hopefully someone with more insight sees this and answers.

I guess my biggest ?? Is do I leave the wiring in the 89 dash and splice it in where the bulk of the wires go thru the fire wall. Or pull all the wiring out of the 89 dash and wire my 85 dash harness into the 89 dash?
