Does anyone know if the newer style ignition lock cylinder fits in a truck that came with the older style? 96 rangers used both styles.

I don't know if both parts will fit my ranger. I'd like to use the older style but can't get it quickly in a quality part.

Give us some time. We're all busy playing word associations, and insulting each other (or complimenting each other).

lol come and join the fun while you are waiting for someone more knowledgable than us :)

one thing you might do if you have some time and are not quarantined... go to the junk yard and find a newer style cylinder and go put it in a truck with an older style cylinder. see if it works (the catch will be if you can find one with keys... but you can probalby remove the pins to see if it works and engages everything. if so, order your new one. the bonus part is that you practice on someone elses truck to figure out how to get it all out without scratching or breaking your own column.

Probably would work fine however newer style is probably a different keyway. Why don't you just get the original one out and take to a locksmith for repair?
