About a year ago now I replaced my fixed rear window with a slider, making the lack of a/c bearable in the summer. My truck is a regular cab.
In the last few months I started getting these sounds right behind my head that are driving me nuts. The best I can describe it, mostly based on what I assume is happening, is a tacky adhesive clicking sound. It only happens while underway, and happens more at certain speeds/under certain road conditions. My theory is that flex in the panel surrounding the window is causing that adhesive gunk used to install the window to separate and re-adhere over and over, each time making this noise.
If I press back against the window, the sound stops. I've tried to tighten the bolts securing the window, and it seemed to solve the problem temporarily only for it to come back within a week. I suppose I could order a new adhesive strip, pull the window, and reinstall, but that's kinda a blind fix which would likely lead to the same problem popping up again-- so before I go for that, I thought I'd see if anyone had any insight that might be helpful.
