a problem with 4x4

my front hubs are manual but they wont lock in when i engage the transfer case the front shaft turns.... does this mean that i need to replace the hubs or could the problem be something else?:icon_confused:

Well if the shafts are turning then your transfer case and front diff seem to be working OK. If both hubs are in the lock position, they may be snookered. Pull them off and check them. When you turn them the innards will move. If not you need new hubs.

What about the hubs won't lock in? Does the dial turn from free to lock?

I guess I need more info to be of any help.

It is a reference to the game of snooker. Kind of like 'check mate' in chess, or even simpler screwed. :blush:

take them a part and clean them out and regreas them. not to much greas.

the dial turns from free to lock it just doesnt lock in the axles i guess... it doesnt make the tires turn. i also need to know where the field term from the back of the alternator goes.... VR, ignition, fuse box or where????
