Alternator pulley swap?

Hi all
I need to order a replacement alternator, but the ones with the right mounting points, and plug sockets, all show the 6-rib v-belt pulley.

Mine has the old fashioned single=v pulley. Are these all interchangeable? I.e. can I order one with the ribbed (for my displeasure) pulley, and simply swap over my old pulley?

Or are they not interchangeable?

I'm not sure I would trust the picture you see will be exactly what you get.

Try calling or emailing the company and ask them the question. The specs in their parts catalog should say what pulley is on it.

Yes, they are interchangeable. I use my 1/2" impact to remove the retaining nut and recommend NOT getting your finger into the cooling fan when you pull the trigger.

This. An impact is almost essential. That initial high speed torque will spin off the nut easily compared to figuring out a way to hold the shaft from spinning while using hand tools.

This operation probably wouldn't squish them as much as it would ripe and teat off your fingers.
