I have a 98 3.0 stock (so far) and have heard cold air intake does not work. Is there anything I can do that won't be a waste of time for cold air? I saw some stuff for the 4 cyl, maybe its the same?

Your truck already has a CAI... Be it 4 or 6 banger... Go out and look at it, it sucks air from in front of the grill... Can't get any colder than that, lol...

if your lookin for the chrome, or color pipe with a cone k&n filter. You don't need to go that route unless you plan on following up with exhaust, bigger throttle body, ported intake and heads...as far as performance goes.

Of course, if you want that sound of the aftermarket cai, its up to you. I dont have one on my ranger, but it sure sounds :icon_hornsup: on my maxima and helps a bit on performance on that motor.

You could design some way to put some kind of refrigerant line in your air box... It would be a complete waste of money, and time, and effort, but it would make the air a wee bit colder...

I thought a cone filter may make a difference as stated above...or i could just load the intake with dry ice each time i drive.

Nah, a cone filter won't do anything except let more dirt in and make noises... the dry ice thing (I hope that's a joke)... No comment on that, haha...

My cold air intake kit is called a Firebird Trans am Convertible with RAM AIR LOL. It will run circles around my Ranger. Of course if you want to haul mulch or something the Ranger is a good substitute.
