My credo
Give 'yer balls a tug. Fight me.
So, since the Shiftster is now out of production (loud cussing noises), it seems this is the new, and only, game in town to fix my still non functional BW 1354.

Anyone out there mess with one yet? $895 is one helluva plunge for a manual conversion on a transfer case, but the L2 cases are now over $1100 on ebay (even louder cussing noises). Plus the Behemoth would require some floor cutting and presumably some seriously messed up looking interior trim panels.

Screw that. Use a 4406 you can get for a fraction of that. Apply the extra funds for the power train changes to work with it.

Never even looked into it tbh. I know very little about transfer cases.

Well...

The part I didn't explain is you'd be using a bigger motor/trans to make it work.

😐

Edit: honestly, other than a LS swap, I don't think there's a legal/easy V8 swap on a 2011.

Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.
You don't have access to machining equip in your line of work?

Someone needs to just start making a new shiftster..

Not as much as you would think.

And I agree, but I don't have an original Shiftster to get the clocking on the mounting plate. So the best I could do is guess.

A lot of world changing stuff has come about because of a wild guess.

Lots of people have also died as the result of a wild guess.. so... idk where I was going with this.

Find a manual 1354 out of a 97 or older Ranger. I got a transfer case, shifter, linkage, boots and everything else I needed for $300.

They stopped making ranger based explorers with 5.0 in 2001. For emissions reasons it not legal to swap a drivetrain from an older model year vehicle into a newer model year. For any engine swap the drivetrain would have to come from something that was model year 2011 or newer.

Heh. I wish.

Iirc, the only one that fits the floor trim for a 2011 is a L2 FX4, and good luck. They want $1200 for the case with no trim, linkage, shifters, etc.

Never heard of that, done plenty of engine swaps using older engines and have never had a problem. Going to put a 90s model 12 Valve Cummins in a newer Superduty here soon.
