You better be getting 1 ton axles if you want to spin 40's. I'm running 5.38's with my 40's on my 91 4.0l auto

The 14 bolt will handle it but what front axle are you planning on using?

If u going to do any heavy wheeling go with a Dana 60 front. Street queen and a light foot a Dana 44 could survive. Iv seen plenty of Dana 44s take a lot of abuse, but alot of money could be saved if u just go with a 60 right away.

Not trying to be a dick or anything (ok, I am) but if you have to ask if you CAN run 40's and dont even know which axle to run for the front (look at the D60 bible in the tech library) you should stick to 235/75/R15's.

What are your plans for this thing? What steering box are you going to graft onto your frame, What suspension setup are you going to use? <-- These are also the kind of questions you MUST have answers to if you're going to run "40's".

Well ya.....

After you at least TRY TO SEARCH.
Hell i lurked on here for a while before i even became a member, and then it was at least another month of just researching before i asked a question.

I was a mamber of pirate for over three years before i ever even posted on there.
There is UNLIMITED amount of general info on pirate, SEARCH MAN!!!!
I drilled and tapped a steering box for hyd assist just from searching, rebuild a fargin C-6 transmission just from researching it.

Dont get butthurt, im not talking down to you, just telling you to stop digging a hole, and use Yahoo/Google for what its for.
TRS's search works great!!!!
Pirate's,,,,, not so much. So google search your question with "pirate4x4" with it.
Its that easy.

Look for a 78-79 F350 4x4, and 1986- i believe 1992 were all kingpin Dana 60s
and 92 to 97 were balljoints. Anything from a superduty were metric.
Kingpins are better , but balljoints are not to far behind.
