They are too big, even though they look the same.

Why? Are you needing a set or just like the bigger ones?
If you are in need I have a set from a 85 ranger.

Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.
They'd fit with enough cutting & welding 🤷‍♀️

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.

I don't remember if the housings are different but I believe '90 is the split for tail light housings too, they switched from the round lights to the flat blade lights like the front turn signals...

I believe 1993 is when the #3156, #3157 bulbs appeared.

My '90 BII has round-base bulbs (#1156, #1157)

My 88 was different from front to rear. Flat and round. Crazy.

Guess I need to check the fronts on my BII then (never have had to replace a front one yet)

I think the changeover was mid '90 or '91 but I haven't paid that much attention either, the front turn signal bulbs on the '89-92 ('94 in Explorer) front end have the flat plugs, my '90 has the round tail lights but was built in '89... I've forgotten a lot of silly details over the last 24 years on here but I also remember some dumb useless stuff too :)
