I have a 1994 4x4 Ranger with a 2.3 turbo
That is currently running terribly
Ultimately I would like to get rid of this turbo motor ( it was someone’s project it came with the truck)
And just put a simple 2.3 with a carb in it?
From what other ford cars/trucks bolt up to mine I really don’t want a huge project I need the truck daily!
I am capable of doing the work myself I would just like to drop a different motor in
Or something that would bolt up to the T5 tranny in case I can find an engine with tranny?
Thanx and regards for any guidance

2.3l SOHC Lima engine was first used in a 1974 Pinto, with distributor and carb
And had that setup thru 1984, it was used in several Ford Models, in 1985 some got EFI but not all
The distributor hole in the block was sealed in 1990/1 I think
In 1989 a new head setup with dual spark plugs

There were head differences over the years but if you get the "new" engine with exhaust and intake manifold that shouldn't matter

Head versions listed here: http://forums.merkurclub.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=38855

I think you can use a mechanical fuel pump up to 1984 models

My credo
A legend to the old man, a hero to the child...
If your current motor is EFI and the wiring is intact it would probably be eaiser just to go with an EFI motor

Im kinda ignorant when it comes to 2.3's but you can turbo an efi one correct? Lol
