cheap lift for tough truck

im in the process of building a tough truck for the local races out of a 91 2wd 2 door explorer. is it possible to cut and turn the beams or heat and bend them for a little lift? im a newb when it comes to 2wd so any help is appriciated.

If you get older beams off of a pre 88' Ranger, you can do what ever you want to them. They are forged beams, the ones in your expo now are cast. If you were to go heating on them they will become brittle.

If you do snag up some forged beams, they will fit the expo with no issues. You will need to use the spindles/brakes off of the forged beams.

If you plan to heat the beams and bend them.. Do it about 2" inside of the radius arm bolt hole. This will give you a good coil angle, good ground clearance and frame clearance when the suspension is at full compression = more up travel.
