Whoa what's that clutch smel????:icon_twisted:

Well let me start from the beginning- my tale of whoa, and challenge.

I work at a big airplane company here in the Seattle area, I'm what they call a lead man. SO every other Friday I do a little sumthin sumthin for the crew.

Friday Chili dog feed. I grab my wifes Crock pot and four cans of chili, and some Hot Links. Hour into the heating, the crock pot splits in half and the chili starts pouring out...... Haul ass to Fred Meyer for a new Crock and more chili.

That's when the fun begins.

Heading back to work, throttle to the floor- damn truck won't go over 74 mph with the 33x12.50s on her- damn 2.8!!! Push harder on the throttle!!!

Snap- there goes the throttle cable...... coast the dying Ford to the edge of the freeway.

Under the dash- hey I can hook this second ball to the throttle pedal. Restart- engine running wide open- crap- slam through the gears- gotta get back to the crew and get the Chili going.

Race into the parking lot, ride the brakes, sliip the clutch- goddam-this things Revving too high!!! Slip the clutch more- stand on the brakes- Where's an F-ing parking spot!!! Dammit brakes are starting to fade...... Kill the ignition..... back on.... rev rev.... kill the ignition...... back on....rev rev rev... what's that smell.,...... Dammit that's my clutch....... kill the ignition.......back on.... rev rev reeeeeev... kill the ignition.... back on... KKKAAAAABOOOOOOMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The biggest exhuast backfire I've ever heard....... Sounded like a terrorist just set off a car bomb in the Factory parking lot...... Truck sputters back to life....

Found a parking spot- ease my way in. Muffler sitting split open in the middle of the parking aisle, rear exhaust dangling down onto my rear differential. Smoke pouring out of my front right brake, clutch making a tink tink tink sound........

Damn Chili feed about took out my old Truck. :buttkick:

Just finished the exhaust. Brakes are fresh- put some good pads on too!!!! Hope that slows me down.

But- Where can I get a new Throttle cable- I want a new one- not a Wrecking lot one??

tried napa, Action Auto and Oreilly's (schucks) It's off to a dealership, or my local "pull a part"- Hell those guys practically know me by name. Seriously thinking about a 302 swap, fuel injection or....... sorry guys..... I love the Ranger...... but one of those generic f-150 quad cabs

Don't think you'll find one anywhere but a dealership. And even there you might be lucky to find it not discontinued.

Short hi-jack;
That was small town saturday afternoon hi-jinks.... cruising main street, see someone, kill ignition... turn on as you are passing and BOOM. Scare the living be-jeebbers out of them :icon_twisted::icon_hornsup::icon_rofl:
The wrecking yard sure liked selling me mufflers.
