Cycle rack in the dumpster

Hello friends,
I have an idea for Chuck. I would like it to be able to transport bikes and why not a Dax type mini motorbike. Has anyone ever thought of this and done this or purchased a kit that already exists?
Otherwise I'm thinking of buying ordinary bicycle racks and adapting them to the bed using hooking points on each side of the bed. A few steel tubes to weld to the bike support, at least two anchor points, to repeat on the front and rear wheels, and we wouldn't be bad, what do you think?

It's on the other end from the bonnet; where the boot would be on a car, but this is a lorry.

There are a few options for carrying peddal bikes in the back of a truck.

Some just use a mat to protect the tailgate and hang the front forks off the back of the truck with the rest of the bike in the dumpster.

There are mounts that get attached to the front of the dumpster that hook into bike's front forks, where the axle normally goes, to hold the bike in place.

There is a rack that mounts into a towing receiver to carry the bikes on the back of the truck. I don't think Europeans use the same tow hitch design we do.

I don't recall seeing this system for bicycles, but there is a holder that gets mounted to a truck bed or floor of a trailer the wraps around the front of a motorcycle wheel that holds them upright with cargo straps strapped over or to the bike to hold them in place.

Given the size difference in bicycle tires and motor bike tires, I'm not sure if you could make one rack system work for both unless the motor bike has a fairly skinny wheel, like a moped.

Its better then the hitch mount racks because your bike isnt out where people can run into it and you dont have to drill into the truck or use straps to hold the bike in place

Thank you for this article that I didn't know about. On the other hand, to install this, I have to remove my liner...and I couldn't fit 4 bikes.
I'm still going to think about my rack project, but it's cool to show me what's being done across the Atlantic, it always helps

Hello everyone, as already mentioned above, I am considering making a bike rack for Chuck.
I would like to know your recommendations for the anchor points of the bed.
For the moment I have a liner, without any grip or opening, but I understand that anchor points are provided on the bodywork bed. What are your hook and attachment models to fit on the pick up please?

there are tie downs near the lower corners but they are like boat cleats, not really for anchoring a bike rack.

Thank you for the clarification. Reading the thread title, I thought you found a bike rack in the dumpster, but then the first post didn't match that. At that point I was completely confused as to what this was about. Then with this line, I was about to ask if you sleep in a dumpster, or what I think would be called a skip over on that side of the big pond.

Honestly on the truck I just toss my bikes (cycles) in the "dumpster". I have got a hitch mounted bike rack for the car, but I'd only ever use it on the truck if the bed were going to be full of other stuff. That said the bike usually stays at home, I really don't use it much. Would proably be a good thing to start doing, but I'm too cheap to buy a high dollar bike, the cheap walmart ones are never set upright, and I've never been interested enough to learn to fix them right. For some reason I want to buy a new WalMart 29" mountain bike (Ozark Trails Ridge), and convert my existing (barely used, but well weathered) WalMart 29" mountain bike (Mongoose Stat) into an e-bike.

Something I did with my ranger to attach my dirtbike involved a 2x12 board and one of those tire stands like pictured.

The stand was screwed into the board. The edges of the board were cut in the shape of a peg to fit into the bed (dumpster ) liner securely. Straps held the bike to the tie-down locations in the bed corners. Bicycles are a bit smaller and you may be able to fit several. I will search for a pic of mine.
