You could rock the blocks for a while and then upgrade to some longer leafs at a later point, maybe do it in stages?

Thats probably what will end up happening. The thing that confused me was that with the RC lift 4wd had the option for new leaf springs but not 2wd

Not really much to update. Finally got a pic of my rear tow hook and took some random ones. Nothing too exciting yet. Might have a headgasket problem though.

Well I realized my head gasket problem is most likely just a lower intake manifold gasket problem. I took it into the shop to get it checked out before I started buying parts and they said that it most likely is just a lower intake gasket so thats a relief I guess. I decided to go ahead and get new Delta Cam rocker arms and push rods so no more annoying tick. Am also going to paint the valve covers while they are off. Im thinking a wrinkle black but Im still up in the air on that.

To go along with the new rockers and what not I decided to paint up some valve covers since one of mine has paint peeling. I bought a set from a TRS member but unfortunately I waited too long and I wont have them before I go back to school. I ended up having to go to the salvage yard and grabbing a set. The paint I decided to go with is VHT Wrinkle Plus in black.

I gathered up the things I needed to begin. The paint, paper towels, sand paper, Aircraft paint stripper, and the two things that are the most important, beer and music.

I sprayed on the paint stripper and within a couple minutes it started bubbling up. The only thing I did not start with that I really needed was a paint scrapper and gloves. For anyone that hasnt used this stuff, WHERE GLOVES! This stuff burns like fire. Hot ass fire.

After 3 coats of paint five minutes apart this is what its looking like as of now.

Tomorrow it goes in the oven at 200 degrees for 1 hour and they say that should really bring out some of the wrinkles. We'll see how it goes I guess.

On a side note though, I turned 100,000 miles today when I bought my new Gates belt.

After letting the paint sit for 24 hours here is what it looked like

close up

I put them in the oven for 1 hour at 200 degrees and they came out looking great. I cant wait to get them on. Its kind of hard to tell from the pictures but when they came out of the oven the wrinkles really tightened up

Close up

Well I finally got the lower intake gasket fixed and the new rockers and pushrods in. Runs SO much better now. No more ping at highway speeds and it has a little bit more go to it now. The valve covers look nice as well. Will try and get a pic.

Do you happen to have a straight on pic from the front, I'm debating on getting rid of the upper part of the valence.
