i just found out that my ranger has a 7.5" rearend with an open diff and 3.73 gearing. What vehicle would have a limited slip 4.10 gearing?

I got my old disk 8.8" with a L/S and 3.73s from a 4.0 Exploder.

Check the tech library. There's tons of info about 8.8" swaps and what bolts up and what doesn't.

Expect to have to do some welding, and flange/u-joint work, and if you're going from a 7.5 to an 8.8 you might have issues with hard lines unless you find an 8.8" with disks. In that case, make sure to grab the brake hose that runs from the hard line to a 3/8 banjo bolt.

Look on Car-Part.com for a newer ranger axle. A lot of them came with 4.10's and a track lok. I just picked one up out of a 02 ranger 8.8, 4.10 track lok for $300. Has 114k on it but in pretty good shape.

Car-part.com is the best I've found for parts. Picked up a 8.8 Ranger rear, 10" brakes with less than 20K miles for around $350. Really don't see the need for the Explorer 31 spline or disc brakes in most cases.
