What would cause my inner left bearing to dry out and the outer one stay greased? The right wheels bearings are fine. And I just replaced them all in august. There was no damage, just the grease was dry. Could the metal seal somehow be damaged?

I noticed it because it started to squeak on my drive home.

Maybe you didnt pack the bearing right . or the bearing was NFG to begin with. Maybe it got tightened. You'll never know until you take it apart. If it is a really high pitched squeak, it could just a rock stuck between the rotor and the splash plate.

I would pull it back apart. Don't be surprised if you find water/rust inside there. Don't forget the seal on the outside can leak too. What brand were the bearings you used?

I used whatever they sell at advanced autoparts. It didn't apear to have any water, mud anything in there. It stopped squeaking as soon I regreased them. The seal looked to be good, and when I replaced them the grease was brand new. I can't seem to figure out why this would happen.
