I do not own a 5.0 Ranger but from reaserch. I have found that most people use TorqueMonster Headers. after that I would run an catted x pipe but no cats no clue I have emissions? Muffler honestly I think mac sounds better than flowmaster sorry if I could not help, but I can get you more exhaust options.

I think the TM headers are only real popular for the Explorer engines...

It is quite a variaty of what people use, Hedmann 89500 (the swap headers) 88400 (what I used, originally for a Falcon or Comet) Duff, TM, knockoff Shelby Tri-Y's are common and probably the best thing going for 2wd's... the list goes on.

I really do not care for the sound of an X pipe, I would personally rather have an H pipe if I was to connect the pipes.

I think this was aimed more at the muffler than the headers, to which I will have to answer no I did not use a Flowmaster 10 series.

Lack of knowledge on my part. sorry about that, really on a 5.0 an h pipe sounds the best, but an x pipe can net better gains. X pipes sound good on 2-3 valve 4.6, and 4 valve cobras

It is a matter of opinion, IMO I don't think the sound of an X pipe is worth what little gains you get out of them vs an H.

I heard a new 4 valve 5.0 Mustang Easter weekend, I could tell a mile away it had an X... it is just too buzzy for me.
