Hello and Happy New Year all!

Having trouble finding a couple parts (for some time) for my 1984 4x4 Ranger with 2.8. Was wondering if anybody knows if there are parts for similar vehicles that are more available, even if some modifications are needed for mounting, etc.
1. Fan shroud (working in engine bay while running is scary)
2. Inspection cover for C5 Transmission bell housing.

Thanks guys!
Doug

I’ve got a couple of the fan shrouds in the barn. All the BII and V6 rangers and early explorers are relatively the same. I’ve noticed little differences but none that make them unusable. 2.8 came with a little top only shroud for non A/C models but I prefer the complete enclosure. Can’t help with the inspection plate but wouldn’t surprise me for someone to chime in with one.

Tw25, thanks for chiming in! Something you are willing to part with? I see a few options on ebay for bronco II, although not sure what years would work. Same with explorer. Any ideas on which years?
Thank you!!

I am willing to part with one. All the BIIs should work. Rangers thru at least 94. Explorers 91 to 94. Maybe more as well. I’m out here in Michigan. If you can’t local source one we can work out a deal.
Have you checked out https://www.car-part.com/mobile/index.htm

Yeah, tried them. With that many options on years/models I'm sure I can find one to work. I appreciate your insight! If you have picture easily available of what it looks like for non ac truck, I would really appreciate it (even if stock photo from online search). I'm seeing many different looking shrouds among year/models. Basic shape would be nice to know. I know it's nice to keep such parts on hand, especially if you have a barn to stack them up in! But if I still hit a brick wall, armed with my new knowledge, I'll reach out to see about striking a deal. Thanks again!

Hey tw25...looks like early 90's ranger v6 shrouds a dime a dozen, and cheap too. Does this look like a shroud that would work on my 84 2.8 non ac truck? That would be super!

I’m have no knowledge of the 3.0. My bad. Looks the same but the 3.0 is not a cologne engine. 2.8, 2.9, 4.0 are a good match.

Thanks man!! Between the info you've provided, and the great pics, I have no doubt I'll get something that'll fit!

Where in Oregon? I have a Explorer shroud sitting around that I haven't gotten around to putting back on my '90 since I changed the radiator like 4 years ago...

Explorer shrouds bolt on but the tabs that hold them at the bottom are spaced differently so you would have to fab something to hold it.

Hi Scotts90! I'm in scotts mills. Between molalla and silverton, off 213 if you know the area. Where are you? Yeah...not sure if I really need for cooling, although I've read one drawback of 2.8 rangers is possible overheating....but I dont like being around engine bay when running with that mangler fan!

I'm in Dayton, work in Tualatin and am in Salem/Stayton area many weekends so I'm all over :). The shroud didn't fit my tiny 2.3L fan anyway, if you want one it's yours, we can figure out something sometime, I'm not against heading south a bit after work some weeknight to the Woodburn area or whatnot...

Small world! My wife gets her hair done in Dayton every month (I think an hour drive is too far for that, but it's her good friend too). I could maybe drive out with her one time for the part perhaps. I travel to salem area quite often and certainly wouldn't mind going that far either. Best option I've found so far online is one off a 2.9 ranger (85 I think) , which would fit right up without fab or mods. But set me back $70 for a 40+ year old chunk of plastic. What would you want for it? Thanks man!

Nothing, it's just sitting around... but the other option is going to the junkyard which the one off of Foster in Portland is closer to you than me but the best around right now (The Sherwood yard is pretty much closed for the winter since it's basically in a pond), you can check their inventory HERE, that's just the Rangers but you can change it to Explorers or whatever...
