Well its been a few years but I'm getting a hell of a deal on a 90 ranger Thats been sitting for a while. The truck is in decent shape it's a 2.3/5 speed with 60k on the clock anything you guys can recommend to look out for. I went and checked it out in person and I'm impressed and happy with it but it hasn't ran in a few years.
I plan on tossing in fresh gas, battery and changing the oil before I fire it up.
any other suggestions?

No sense in messing up the fuel system & injectors! It's an hour of aggravation but it will be worth the trouble.......

Get a good fire extinguisher to be safe......

Smell the fuel in the tank.....if it smells anything like old varnish---drain the tank/put in a few gallons of new fuel with a can of injector cleaner in the tank----put a drain line on the opened injector manifold pressure relief valve---turn the key to ON but don't start it---let the fuel pump force all the old fuel out of the pressure relief valve into a container until you see fresh fuel draining into the container-----turn off the key-----close the relief valve........that way you wont be forcing old fuel & varnish gum into the injectors.

Then try starting the truck.
