check the axle code on the inside of your driver side door.... It should be 86 or i think 76? Then look in the tech library of trs :) and It will tell you 8.8 or 7.5 and 3.73 or 4.10 gears. If its a 7.5 I would recommend upgrading to the 8.8 since you have to replace it anyways.

Why would the rear blow if you down graded is what I am wondering. And With 35's I assume the Axle was probably upgraded

I just pulled apart the axle and i broke just one spider gear, and the pin in the middle, so the ring and pinion are good, and shafts are too. But anyone know where i can just buy the spider gears at???

Well what i think it was is that i had the 35s on one side and 31s on the other and i had to take my buddy to work, and running two different tire sizes, but two things about that, why not when it was like that, it happended after all were same, and why could this be with an open carrier???

Well running a tire of one size on one side and another on the other side completely explains it.

An open carrier will send power to the wheel with the least amount of traction, in your case they both had similar amounts of traction and the stress from trying to spin the smaller tire as fast as the large tire caused the gear and pin to break. As for doing after you changed it it probably got really stressed when you drove it like that and when you changed the tires to the same the damage was already done.

You can try going to a drive train specialist or a junk yard and picking up a spare axle.

I had the same thing happen after I had to run a few days on a spare that was the same "size", but clearly shorter than the Michelin on the other side.

Like yours, it waited for a few days after I got the flat fixed, to crap out.

I think it was a broken pin that allowed things to shift around enough to break the spider gear.

Ended up being a good excuse to swap in an 8.8 tho...
