i am trying to install a 1979 ford mustang v6 in my 1950 ford car. what bell housing will work? I am using a standard 5 speed out of a s-10 with an adapter to ford transmission bolt pattern. Please help.......!!!!! Thank you...Paul Bisler

While this is a ranger based vehicle forum, we don't discriminate....much.
I don't have enough mustang knowledge of v-6's to be able to help. If you can provide the engine size/family someone can probably answer.

I did some poking last night, because I am not too familiar with those old Mustangs either.

Sounds like he is playing with a 2.8. Any bell out of a Bronco II, V6 Ranger, or Explorer should fit your engine, but I don't know how compatible they will be with your S-10 trans.

It should also be noted that no Explorer manual trans, no 2wd Ranger manual trans after 1988, and no 4.0L manual transmission have a removable bell housing. Those will all be M5ODs and the bell is cast as a part of the case.
