6’-2” in cowboy boots and I was looking up at him...

Wife is nuts for an Ecosport, I would prefer something with a little more heft to it, like another Edge.
My wife has the previous gen (2010) escape. Im 6'1 and have no idea why anyone larger then 5'6 buys one.

Seriously, add in the Rock hard seats and enourmous console all the OEs have a hard on for these days and my 1st gen rangers are more comfy. Plus the way to deep dash is also bothersome, these are my biggest complaints on any modern vehicle.

The edge resembles a turtle.

The explorer is so, um, "civilized" anymore it might as well just be a taurus wagon.

The new expeditions arnt horrible, and really would be the only ford SUV built after 03 id consider owning (besides the excursion).

I have no idea why the expy runs IRS. The tahoe/burb still have live rears.

Either way, the only fords i see in my future might be a bare bones pre 17 superduty with a 6.2L. But, that being said untill i found rusty 2.0 my hunt for a somewhat efficent daily to replace the 77 included a very short list, and they were crown vics.

The wife has her sights set on a damn subaru

My wife came with an ‘08. Once I figured out I could take scope the wheel and slide the seat clear back it isn’t too bad. I can get a quarter inch between the bulge of the dash and my kneecap.

I look at hers and the Ecosport and think to myself “I really don’t want smaller...”

Explorer feels huge and I don’t think an Expy would be any better.

My wife’s is just an SEL. flip the lever down like you are going adjust the tilt and pull the wheel towards you.

Anyone else happen to look at this lately?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troller_T4
Ford Motor Company purchased Troller in 2007. In 2014, the Troller T4 received a major redesign, is now being built on a shortened version of Ford's T6 platform for the global Ranger. The current version looks more like the modern form of the Jeep Wrangler and early model Ford Bronco.
And from this link (dated 6-5-'14) near the bottom:
http://blog.caranddriver.com/the-bronco-trolls-on-fords-muscular-troller-t4-for-brazil-is-pretty-bitchin/
Underneath, the T4 utilizes solid front and rear axles, gets four-wheel drive, and we assume a proper ladder frame. Troller hasn’t yet revealed the T4’s interior, but if the old model is anything to go by, expect function to win out over style. The cabin’s single concession to fashion is a dual-pane sunroof panel Troller calls a sky roof. Under the squared-off hood sits Ford’s 3.2-liter diesel—it appears to be the same inline-five that’ll be offered in the Transit van—paired to a six-speed (!) manual transmission. The combo should easily outmatch the old T4’s diesel four-cylinder and five-speed setup. So, Ford, any thoughts about adapting this thing for the States? We could totally see the word “Bronco” debossed in the front grille instead of “Troller” . . .
(emphases mine)

I've been aware of Ford's purchase of Troller for quite some time now, but it now being built on the T6 frame is news to me.

*fingers crossed* :yahoo:

However if there are no NA gas engines available (such as the 3.3 or 3.5 V6 used in the F-150, ideally with a stickshift) or the 3.2 I5 diesel it has currently (also with the stickshift), then they can count me out (I don't expect to see the 5.0 V8 available, but I'd consider it too if it was available).

The Troller thing doesn't look too bad... kinda like a YJ hit hard with a 1990's JC Whitney catalog though.

I expect they'd restyle it to invoke the image of the 1st-gen Bronco (sortof somewhat like that piece of junk concept Bronco I recall them revealing around 2004, but much less gaudy, hopefully).

As is though, I suspect they may catch the ire of Fiat. lol

The Troller makes more sense as a Bronco than the Everest does.

I googled the troller when i first read that there was a possibilty it would be the basis for the new bronco.

Even though it kinda looks like a dodge nitro had a baby with a jeep wrangler i kind of like it.

If ford really does want to fight the wrangler, this is the vehicle to do it. But please lord of ford, keep the solid axles and offer a stick shift. A REAL stick shift. Offer it with lock out hubs with an auto option (like the older superduties), and they might have something here, espicially if they could price it lower then the wrangler.

If they can do these things, just possibly i might sign on the X.

To each his own.
Whatever is under that cover has round fenders.

Troller reminds me of a Geo Tracker.

Why are y'all so hellbent on manual transmissions ? The Ranger is going to have the Trail Control option to have cruise control at 1 mph. Seems a lot better than burning up clutches on difficult trails.

A good driver and the right gears thats not an issue.

Manuals are much more kind when it comes to abuse, less parastic loss, dont have to really worry about heat...

A 6sp manual with a granny low would be perfect.

The older I get the more I appreciate a automatic transmission ... but I still love a manual transmission.
Mainly because of $150 or less for a clutch kit vs $2800+ for a rebuild on these newer 6-10 speed autos.
