I noticed when I filled up my tank that I smelled a strong odor of gas. I looked underneath the tank and the cover piece that covers the bottom of the tank was soaked in gas and wet when I touched it. After driving it 40 miles or so the gas leak went away. This truck has a plastic tank so I don't see how it could leak. Is the filler neck made of metal that perhaps rusted? I'm somewhat puzzled at this.

Filler neck is rubber and is most likely cracked where it connects to the tank

Im just glad im not the only one having problems with leaky fuel. I had my filler neck replaced a few weeks ago but it didnt solve it so i ended up replacing a good part. I now have a new gas tank in my garage going in tomorrow.
